Job summary

Workchain is recruiting a Warehouse Supervisor for a York depot. You will lead a team of around 9 staff, oversee day-to-day transport and warehouse operations, and drive safety, efficiency and customer satisfaction.

The successful candidate will have at least 3 years in transport/warehouse roles, supervisory experience, strong leadership and communication skills, and solid IT knowledge including WMS and routing systems. Monday–Friday, with no weekend work.

Qualifications

• 3+ years' experience in transport and warehouse operations.
• Previous supervisory or management experience.
• Excellent communication skills across all levels.
• Experience in a fast-paced logistics environment.
• Good IT skills, including Word, Excel, WMS and routing systems.

The Role

As Warehouse Supervisor, you will support the Hub Manager in overseeing the day-to-day operations of the depot, ensuring high standards of service, safety, compliance, and efficiency are consistently maintained.

You will play a key role in motivating the team, driving performance, and ensuring smooth logistics and warehouse operations while delivering excellent customer satisfaction.

Key Responsibilities

• Support the management of transport and warehouse operations.
• Leading a team of roughly 9 people.
• Ensure health and safety standards are maintained across the site.
• Lead, motivate, and develop depot staff to achieve operational targets.
• Plan and organise depot workloads effectively.
• Manage vehicle utilisation, including vehicle hire and de-hire processes.
• Monitor, analyse, and report on depot KPIs.
• Maintain quality control standards throughout depot operations.
• Ensure compliance with all relevant legal and regulatory requirements.
• Oversee stock checks and depot inspections in line with company procedures.
• Support project management and continuous improvement initiatives.
• Ensure all employees follow operational procedures and company policies.

About You

The successful candidate will have:

• A minimum of 3 years' experience within transport and warehouse operations.
• Previous supervisory or management experience.
• Strong leadership and people management skills.
• Excellent communication skills with the ability to engage at all levels.
• Experience working in a fast-paced logistics environment.
• Good IT skills, including Microsoft Word, Excel, WMS, and routing systems.
• Strong organisational and decision-making abilities.
