Job description

Are you an experienced and proactive leader ready to take the next step in your warehouse career? We're looking for a dedicated Warehouse Supervisor to join our team and play a pivotal role in ensuring the smooth and efficient running of our operations. Reporting directly to the Site Manager, you'll be instrumental in delivering safe, high-quality, and efficient warehouse processes, even stepping up to provide essential cover during the Site Manager's absence.

As our Warehouse Supervisor, you'll be at the heart of our operations, taking on a wide range of responsibilities to ensure everything runs like clockwork. Your key responsibilities will include:

  1. Operational Leadership:
    • Overseeing and actively contributing to safe, efficient, and quality-driven warehouse operations.
    • Managing the daily workflow of the warehouse team, including other Warehouse Supervisors, ensuring clear communication of immediate and upcoming tasks.
    • Planning and coordinating labour resources effectively, proactively reporting any potential shortfalls or excesses to the Site Manager.
    • Taking ownership of first-line troubleshooting for daily tasks and issues, escalating to the Site Manager as needed.
    • Ensuring the site is opened on time and securely closed and alarmed at the end of the day, either directly or through delegated key holders.
    • Contributing to the planning of inbound and outbound goods to ensure timely customer deliveries.
  2. Health, Safety & Compliance:
    • Maintaining accurate H&S, Facilities, and MHE records, ensuring all staff training, MHE servicing/inspections, and H&S actions are completed promptly.
    • Liaising frequently with the Facilities Manager and Group Business Compliance Partner (H&S) to achieve compliance goals.
    • Verifying pre-use inspections for forklifts, other MHE, and ladders are consistently carried out.
    • Ensuring weekly or daily site inspections are completed by Supervisors and Line Managers.
    • Confirming Line Managers and Supervisors are adequately training workers for their assigned tasks.
  3. Team Management & Development:
    • Collaborating with HR on maintaining HR records and occasionally assisting with interviews, performance development reviews (PDRs), or disciplinary investigations.
    • Notifying the business of any critical issues that arise during management absence.
    • Actively contributing to maintaining and improving efficiencies using warehouse Key Performance Indicators (KPIs).

A positive, "can-do" attitude with a strong desire to go above and beyond when required.

Excellent organisational skills and keen initiative.

The ability to deliver tasks to the warehouse team with a polite yet firm approach.

Previous knowledge of Warehouse Management Systems (WMS) is essential.

Proven experience in a Supervision or Management role within a warehouse or logistics environment.

Exceptional communication skills, effective in all directions (with direct reports, peers, and senior stakeholders).

Desired Qualifications:

  • A recognised Operations qualification or equivalent industry experience.
  • IOSH or NEBOSH H&S certification is desired, but full training will be provided to the successful candidate if they don't currently hold these.
