Job summary

A leading company in Wales is looking for a dedicated stock controller to manage inventory and ensure accurate stock control at their new location in Port Talbot. The successful candidate will have a strong background in stores, be detail-oriented, and possess problem-solving skills. This role offers working hours Monday to Thursday, 7am - 3.30pm and Friday, 7am - 1pm.

Qualifications

  • Minimum 2 years of experience in a similar stock control role.
  • Proficiency in computer systems.
  • Stores experience is essential.

Job description

We have an exciting opportunity to join a longstanding client's team at their new location in Port Talbot. The working hours are Monday to Thursday, 7am - 3.30pm, and Friday, 7am - 1pm.

The primary responsibility of this role is to ensure accurate stock control and traceability of parts from receipt to production. Stores experience is essential for this position.

  • Reporting to: Stores Team Leader & Production Manager
  • Collaborating with: Purchasing Department, Quality Department, Machine Shop, Production, and Couriers
  • Achieve and exceed company targets for stock accuracy
  • Detect discrepancies during goods inward receipt
  • Record stock items with Goods Receipt Notes on the same day as delivery (by 4pm)
  • Prevent unauthorized access to the stores area
  • Maintain zero stock loss by following proper picking and kitting procedures

Key Responsibilities

  • Maintain records of storage status and movements of parts received or dispatched
  • Check all received materials against documentation and perform visual inspections; conduct basic measurements on stock items
  • Apply Goods Receipt Notes for all received goods, materials, or parts according to company procedures
  • Record and register all outgoing materials, goods, or parts in line with dispatch procedures
  • Report any discrepancies promptly
  • Conduct stock takes and periodic inventory counts to ensure accurate stock levels
  • Maintain good housekeeping practices within the Stores Area
  • Follow HSE policies and store procedures during all activities
  • Pack and store consignments securely, complying with relevant legislation
  • Perform loading, unloading, and lifting operations safely, using PPE and certified lifting equipment
  • Work independently with initiative
  • Engage in problem solving and continuous improvement
