Job summary

Great Bear is seeking a Warehouse Shift Supervisor to support the Shift Managers in the day-to-day running of a fast-paced warehouse handling beer, wine and spirits. The role covers 4 on 4 off nights from 18:00 to 06:00, with a salary up to £35,622 plus a £2,000 night premium (DOE).

You will supervise staff, coordinate operations, ensure health & safety compliance, and drive 100% customer satisfaction through effective planning and training.

Qualifications

• Previous warehouse experience in a Team Leader or Supervisory role.
• Health and safety knowledge within Warehouse Operations.
• Attention to detail and ability to meet tight deadlines.
• Proficiency with MS Word, Excel and Outlook.
• Strong oral and written communication; leadership and motivation.

Responsibilities

• Assist the Shift Manager in day to day running of the operation.
• Coordinate issues within the warehouse.
• Schedule and supervise warehouse staff activities.
• Ensure timely completion of warehouse activities.
• Communicate plans with Operations Controllers to ensure customer satisfaction.
• Ensure compliance with Health & Safety policy and procedures.
• Maintain records of team performance and advise on disruptions.
• Assist in training and development of warehouse staff.
• Review opportunities for improving work methods and practices.
• Provide regular feedback on performance.
• Manage absence levels and ensure cover.
• Participate as a management team member and suggest improvements.

Job Description

Supporting our e‑fulfilment operation for a well‑known recognised brand. The site will handle the movement of customer‑specific products, including beers, wines and spirits, within a fast‑paced warehouse environment.

As Warehouse Shift Supervisor you will contribute to the success of the site by supporting the Shift Managers in the day-to-day running of the warehouse, ensuring that all service and cost targets are met or exceeded, that all Health & Safety requirements are met and that the highest standards of housekeeping are maintained. Whilst deputising for the Shift Managers in their absence.

Working hours

4 on 4 off nights, 18:00 - 06:00

Salary

Up to £35,622 + £2,000 night premium per annum DOE

Key Duties of a Warehouse Shift Supervisor:

• To assist the Shift Manager in the day to day running of the operation.
• To assist the Shift Manager in co-ordinating any issues within the warehouse.
• Scheduling and supervising the activities and the functions of the warehouse staff.
• Ensuring the proper and timely completion of all warehouse activities.
• To communicate plans with the Operations Controllers to ensure 100% customer satisfaction.
• To ensure compliance with the Company’s Health & Safety policy and procedures through safe systems of work and practices, good housekeeping and the provision of information and training to the warehouse team to ensure total safety awareness.
• To keep and maintain records of team performance against plans and to advise the Shift Manager of factors that may disrupt operations which cannot be resolved by the team.
• To assist in the organisation of training and development for warehouse staff, including on-the-job coaching, and to evaluate training effectiveness in terms of improved individual and team performance and the maximum flexibility of team members.
• To review with the Shift Manager and individual members’ opportunities for improving work methods and practices on a continuous basis.
• To offer regular feedback, formal and informal, on team and individual performance, including behavioural issues and highlighting good performance and areas for further development.
• To assist the Shift Manager in controlling levels of planned and unplanned absence and take appropriate action to ensure cover, as necessary, and manage reductions of unacceptable levels.
• To participate as an active member of the management team, and to offer suggestions for solving problems, improving efficiency, customer and quality focus and team working

Qualifications

• Previous warehouse experience within a Team Leader or Supervisory role.
• Health and safety knowledge and understanding within Warehouse Operations.
• Able to demonstrate a high level of attention to detail.
• Able to work to tight deadlines.
• PC Literate in MS Word, Excel and Outlook.
• Ability to efficiently lead a team, delegate, supervise functions and keep staff motivated.
• Should have good oral and written communication skills.
• Excellent time management skills and problem solving skills.
