People solutions are currently recruiting for a Warehouse Shift Supervisor to join our client's team based in Barnsley.

The Warehouse supervisor is responsible for supervising a team of warehouse operatives to ensure smooth, efficient, and safe warehouse operations.

This role involves organising workloads, monitoring performance, maintaining stock accuracy, and ensuring adherence to health and safety standards.

Day to Day Duties

  • Supervise and coordinate the daily activities of warehouse operatives on the shift
  • Delegate tasks such as picking, packing, goods-in, goods-out, stock replenishment, and loading/unloading
  • Monitor team performance and ensure work is completed to standard and within deadlines
  • Conduct regular team briefings, communicate KPIs, targets, and operational updates
  • Support new team members through training and mentoring
  • Ensure all warehouse operations comply with health and safety regulations and company policies
  • Maintain stock accuracy through regular cycle counts and inventory audits
  • Report any issues with stock discrepancies, equipment, or process delays to management
  • Operate warehouse equipment (e.g., forklifts) if trained and authorised
  • Support a culture of continuous improvement and drive efficiency within the team
  • Act as the first point of contact for problem resolution during the shift
  • Previous experience in a warehouse environment, ideally in a supervisory or team leader role
  • Strong organisational and time management skills
  • Good communication and leadership abilities
  • Ability to work under pressure and meet tight deadlines
  • Awareness of health and safety practices in a warehouse setting
