Job summary

The Range is seeking a Warehouse Shift Manager in Wakefield to lead a large warehouse team across shift patterns (5 out of 7 days). The role focuses on inbound, stock control, picking, despatch, returns and recycling, with a strong emphasis on KPI delivery and process improvement.

You will work with cross-functional teams including inventory, H&S, planning and HR to ensure safety, accuracy and efficiency. Strong leadership and system skills are essential.

Qualifications

• Proven experience of managing in a warehouse environment.
• Strong leadership and team management skills with the ability to motivate and develop staff.
• WMS knowledge with Red Prairie or Blue Yonder is an advantage.
• Microsoft Excel, Word & PowerPoint are used to refine processes and policies.
• Team player with strong communication and work ethic.

Responsibilities

• Lead a team of circa 250 colleagues through a First Line Manager structure.
• Oversee inbound receiving, stock put-away, picking, despatch, returns and recycling.
• Drive process improvements while upholding Health & Safety standards and SOPs.
• Collaborate with inventory, H&S, planning and HR to meet KPIs.
• Drive efficiency and coordinate resources to meet changing demands and deadlines.
• Manage shift handovers and staff engagement with KPI visibility.

Warehouse Shift Manager - WDC

As a Warehouse Shift Manager, you will play a crucial role in ensuring the efficient operation of our warehouse. You will be responsible for overseeing the activities on your shift, managing a team of warehouse colleagues, and ensuring that all tasks are completed accurately and on time.

This is a key role that requires strong leadership, excellent organisational skills, and a proactive approach. The role will be working rotating shift patterns, any 5 days out of 7.

What does the role entail?

• Leading a team of circa 250 colleagues through a First Line Manager structure.
• Operational activities include inbound receiving, stock put-away, picking, despatch, returns and recycling.
• Drives process change and improvements whilst maintaining Health & Safety as a priority and developing standard operational process ensuring accuracy of stock is optimised.
• Work in close cooperation with peer group including inventory, H&S, planning and HR Manager.
• Achieve and exceed operational KPIs and work with other departments on any deviations and corrective action plans.
• Driving operational efficiency across multiple disciplines and time frames ensuring resources coordinated in line with changing demands and deadlines.
• Supports & identifies process improvements whilst maintaining Health & Safety as a priority and developing standard operational process ensuring productivity targets exceeded.
• Shift handovers.
• Staff engagement including pre-shift briefings supported by up-to-date KPI display and dialogue.
• Review performance and tackle any underperformance through appropriate Management intervention.
• Set and drive critical tasks and measures through team review, business plans and PDP’s.
