Job summary

The Range in Wakefield is seeking a Warehouse Shift Manager to lead our shift operations and ensure efficient warehouse performance. You will oversee a team of around 250 colleagues, managing inbound receiving, put-away, picking, despatch and returns, while driving improvements and maintaining Health & Safety standards.

You will work rotating shift patterns (any 5 days out of 7), coordinate with peers in inventory, planning and HR, monitor KPIs, and implement standard processes to optimise stock

Qualifications

• Proven experience of managing in a warehouse environment.
• Strong leadership and team management skills to motivate staff.
• Experience with Warehouse Management Systems (WMS) such as Red Prairie or Blue Yonder preferred.

Responsibilities

• Lead a team on shift of ~250 colleagues ensuring tasks are completed accurately and on time.
• Oversee inbound receiving, stock put-away, picking, despatch and returns.
• Drive process improvements with H&S as a priority and ensure SOPs for stock accuracy.

Warehouse Shift ManagerRole Overview: As a Warehouse Shift Manager, you will play a crucial role in ensuring the efficient operation of our warehouse. You will be responsible for overseeing the activities on your shift, managing a team of warehouse colleagues, and ensuring that all tasks are completed accurately and on time. This is a key role that requires strong leadership, excellent organisational skills, and a proactive approach. The role will be working rotating shift patterns, any 5 days out of 7.

What does the role entail?

• Leading a team of circa 250 colleagues through a First Line Manager structure.
• Operational activities include inbound receiving, stock put-away, picking, despatch, returns and recycling.
• Drives process change and improvements whilst maintaining Health & Safety as a priority and developing standard operational process ensuring accuracy of stock is optimised.
• Work in close cooperation with peer group including inventory, H&S, planning and HR Manager.
• Achieve and exceed operational KPIs and work with other departments on any deviations and corrective action plans.
• Driving operational efficiency across multiple disciplines and time frames ensuring resources coordinated in line with changing demands and deadlines.
• Supports & identifies process improvements whilst maintaining Health & Safety as a priority and developing standard operational process ensuring productivity targets exceeded.
• Shift handovers.
• Staff engagement including pre-shift briefings supported by up-to-date KPI display and dialogue.
• Review performance and tackle any underperformance through appropriate Management intervention.
• Set and drive critical tasks and measures through team review, business plans and PDP’s.

• Proven experience of managing in a warehouse environment.
• Strong leadership and team management skills, with the ability to motivate and develop staff.
• Warehouse Management Systems with Red Prairie or Blue Yonder knowledge an advantage
• Microsoft excel, word & PowerPoint as you will be refining processes, procedures and policies.
• Team player and great communicator with a strong work ethic and an engagement enthusiast
