Job summary

Lineage UK Warehousing Limited in Bristol is seeking an experienced Shift Manager to lead a team in our cold-store operation and ensure efficient, safe stock movement. You will manage resources, monitor performance, and drive continuous improvement.

Responsibilities

• Lead and motivate a team of operatives, creating accountability, teamwork and high performance.
• Oversee end-to-end day and night operations including cross-docking and warehouse coordination.
• Develop shift plans and allocate duties for timely task completion.
• Use WMS to monitor inventory accuracy and address discrepancies.
• Maintain high cleanliness and safety standards; lead investigations.
• Prepare shift reports and provide feedback to site leadership.
• Ensure smooth handovers and consistent performance across the 24-hour operation.
• Coach the team and support their development.

Job description

As a Shift Manager, you'll play a vital role in the smooth running of our cold store operations, ensuring that our stock moves efficiently and safely. You'll be responsible for leading a team, managing resources, and delivering on performance targets.

Shift available: Sunday - Thursday, 22:00-6:00

Salary: Competitive + Shift allowance

Key Responsibilities

• Team Leadership & Engagement - Lead and motivate a team of operatives, creating a culture of accountability, teamwork, and high performance.
• Days and Evenings Operations Management - Oversee end-to-end day and night operations including cross‑docking, stock flow, and warehouse coordination.
• Planning & Resource Allocation - Develop shift plans and assign duties to ensure timely and effective completion of tasks.
• Performance Monitoring - Use the Warehouse Management System (WMS) to track inventory accuracy and identify discrepancies before they become issues.
• Health, Safety & Compliance - Maintain the highest standards of cleanliness and safety. Lead accident investigations and ensure all procedures are followed.
• Operational Reporting - Maintain accurate shift reports and provide regular feedback to site leadership.
• Cross‑Shift Collaboration - Ensure smooth shift handovers and consistent performance across the 24‑hour operation.
• Employee Development - Conduct regular reviews and coach your team to support growth and development.

What We’re Looking For

• Proven experience in warehouse or cold store operations, ideally with supervisory or shift management responsibilities.
• Strong understanding of warehouse safety, stock control, and team leadership.
• Proficient with Warehouse Management Systems (WMS).
• Clear communicator with the ability to engage and align teams.
• Calm under pressure, with a solution‑focused mindset.
• Comfortable working in a cold store environment (approx. -20°C – PPE provided).
• A proactive approach to problem solving and continuous improvement.
• MHE licence is desirable but not essential.
