Job description

We're looking for a Shift Manager to join us at our Halfords contract, at our site in Crick, Northampton. You'll be responsible for the efficient running of the warehouse shift, ensuring optimum use of resources to deliver 1st class customer service, whilst taking a proactive approach to enhancing employee engagement and their development whilst driving forward a culture of continuous improvement. This is a full time, permanent position, where you'll be working on an 'any 5 from 7' shift pattern. The hours of work will rotate weekly between 05:30 - 14:00 and 13:30 - 22:00.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Taking full operational responsibility for the day to day running of the warehouse on your shift (through FLM's and Team Leaders), leading, motivating and developing your team to achieve challenging targets
  • Creating and maintaining a positive team culture, by actively encouraging involvement from all, to improve employee engagement
  • Identifying cost saving initiatives and implementing corrective actions where appropriate to maximise the efficiency of the warehouse operation
  • Ensuring all operational processes are fully compliant with our Health & Safety policies, while accurately identifying risks and escalating findings

To be successful in this role, you'll need:

  • A proven track record at a similar level, within a fast-paced warehouse environment
  • Experience managing conflicting priorities, with the ability to plan and organise a warehouse operation
  • Excellent people skills - the ability to effectively lead, develop and manage a team, whilst identifying areas for development and recognising success
