Job summary

The Recruitment Crowd are recruiting for a Parcel Sorter at a busy Barnsley site. You will sort parcels, operate conveyor belts and scanners, and help ensure accurate labelling for timely delivery.

Shifts include 6:00am–2:00pm, 2:00pm–10:00pm and 10:00pm–6:00am. Ongoing temporary work with permanent opportunities for the right candidates, paying from £12.71 per hour.

Qualifications

• Previous warehouse or logistics experience is beneficial but not required.
• Ability to stand for long periods and lift parcels of varying weights.
• Attention to detail and accuracy.
• Able to work in a busy, fast-paced warehouse.
• Team player with flexible overtime.
• Reliable transport to site preferred.

Responsibilities

• Sort and organise incoming parcels by route and destination.
• Operate conveyor belts, scanners and warehouse equipment.
• Ensure parcels are labelled and processed to minimise errors.
• Maintain efficient workflow and meet deadlines with colleagues.
• Identify damaged parcels and report per procedures.
• Load/unload delivery vehicles and maximise space.

Job description

The Recruitment Crowd are currently recruiting on behalf of our industry-leading parcel courier client based in Barnsley (S74). We are looking for reliable and hardworking Warehouse Operatives/Parcel Sorters to join the team on an ongoing basis, with permanent opportunities available for the right candidates.

Shift Patterns

• 6:00am – 2:00pm
• 2:00pm – 10:00pm
• 10:00pm – 6:00am

Pay Rate

From £12.71 per hour

The Role

As a Parcel Sorter, you will play a key role in ensuring parcels are processed accurately and efficiently for delivery. Duties include:

• Sorting and organising incoming parcels according to designated routes and destinations.
• Operating conveyor belts, scanners and other warehouse equipment.
• Ensuring parcels are correctly labelled and processed to minimise delivery errors.
• Working closely with colleagues to maintain an efficient workflow and meet operational deadlines.
• Identifying damaged parcels and following company procedures for reporting and handling.
• Loading and unloading delivery vehicles while maximising space utilisation.
• Keeping the warehouse clean, tidy and safe at all times.
• Following all company health & safety and security procedures.

Requirements

• Previous warehouse, logistics or parcel sorting experience is beneficial but not essential.
