Job description

An exciting opportunity has arisen for rotating shifts warehouse operatives to join Booker on a permanent contract with a 16-week probationary period.

Successful applicants will be required to work 40 hours per week, with overtime opportunities in line with the Working Time Directive.

You will receive in-house training and support to equip you with the skills necessary to conduct your role.

You will receive the current hourly basic rate of pay, plus shift premium, which is calculated on the basic hours worked between the following bands:

  1. 18.00 - 23.59 hours: 15%
  2. 00.00 - 05.59 hours: 25%
  3. Saturday and Sunday: 20%

Hours worked between 06.00 and 17.59 are classed as day shift and attract no premium.

Shift premium is not paid on any overtime hours.

Site Incentive Scheme

Our colleagues also participate in the site incentive scheme, which is related to individual performance.

The 4-week rotating shift pattern available is:
  1. Week 1: Monday to Friday, 14.00 - 22.00
  2. Week 2: Monday to Friday, 06.00 - 14.00
  3. Week 3: Sunday to Thursday, 14.00 - 22.00
  4. Week 4: Sunday to Thursday, 06.00 - 14.00
Responsibilities include:
  1. To receive, pick, and load goods correctly in accordance with safe standards of work instructions.
  2. To operate all manual and mechanical handling equipment correctly and safely to avoid damage to goods, property, or people.
  3. Perform daily pre-equipment checks before use, reporting any faults immediately to a manager.
  4. Report dangerous stacking, racking damage, obstructions, and any other dangers or irregularities immediately to a manager.
  5. Assist in the counting of stock as required.
  6. Assist in the issue of paperwork and documentation as required.
  7. Action re-coup of damaged stock as requested by the manager.
  8. Undergo any training when required by the company.
  9. Perform any other duties necessary to meet the business demands.
  10. Demonstrate numeracy and literacy skills.
  11. Preferably have experience within warehouse chambers.
  12. Handle goods carefully and comply with safety regulations.
  13. Ensure goods are not damaged through mishandling or faulty storing or stacking.
  14. Be flexible and versatile.
  15. Produce work of a high quality standard.
  16. Successfully complete a drug and alcohol test prior to employment.
