Independent Forgings and Alloys (IFA) is one of the UK’s leading independent aerospace and industrial forgers. The unique feature about IFA is the combination of open and closed-die forging while also undertaking the whole production process from raw material to the finished product in one location. Operating from a 680 000ft2 facility in Sheffield, we manufacture high-integrity, open-die and closed-die forged components in nickel alloy, titanium, stainless steel and carbon alloys for customers and tier-one suppliers within the aerospace, nuclear, power generation, marine as well as oil and gas sector.

Main Purpose of the Role

We are currently looking for a Skilled Labourer with experience operating a Fork Lift Truck and an Overhead Crane to join our team. You will be responsible for general duties in your assigned departments and your duties will include various tasks.

Key Accountabilities

• Department housekeeping and maintenance.
• Assisting the department employees as required.
• Loading and unloading of lorries.
• Disposal of waste, turnings, general rubbish and waste oils.
• Segregation, weighing and logging of valuable scrap turnings.
• Packing and transport of finished parts.
• Locating and transport of components around site safely as required using a FLT and OHC.
• Marking parts using the portadot stamping machine.
• Packing of items ready for despatch.
• Checking and maintaining oil levels in machines.
• Driving vans which requires a clean full UK (or equivalent) drivers license.

Any other duties as may reasonably be required.

Skills and Experience

Essential:

• Experience in handling a FLT.
• Experience in operating an overhead crane and slinging.
• Driver’s license.
• Attention to detail.
• Manual handling ability.
• Good communication skills.
• Team working skills.
• Proactive, self-motivated approach to work.

Desirable:

• Inspection and Part marking experience.

Qualifications

Essential:

• Slinging and crane operation qualification.
• FLT license.
• Educated to 5 GCSEs equivalent to A-C, including Maths and English.
