Job summary

The Best Connection are currently recruiting for a Warehouse Operative / Counterbalance Forklift Driver to work within a busy warehouse and yard environment. The successful candidate will load and unload lorries, operate counterbalance forklift trucks, and ensure pallets are stored correctly.

Ideal applicants hold a valid Counterbalance Forklift Truck licence and have prior warehouse or forklift experience.

Qualifications

• Must hold a valid Counterbalance Forklift Truck licence.
• Previous experience as a Warehouse Operative / Forklift Driver is preferred.

Responsibilities

• Load and unload lorries and containers safely and efficiently.
• Operate counterbalance forklift trucks to move and store pallets and materials.
• Check delivery and transfer paperwork accurately.
• Follow instructions regarding the correct storage and location of pallets and materials.
• Complete stock transfer sheets correctly and in a timely manner.
• Check stock regularly and report or correct discrepancies in quantities.
• Maintain the warehouse and yard to high standards of cleanliness and housekeeping.

Job description

The Best Connection are currently recruiting for a Warehouse Operative / Counterbalance Forklift Driver to work within a busy warehouse and yard environment. The successful Warehouse Operative / Counterbalance Forklift Driver will be responsible for loading and unloading lorries, checking paperwork, safely operating forklift trucks, and ensuring pallets are stored in the correct areas.

The role:

Warehouse Operative / Counterbalance Forklift Driver Responsibilities:

• Load and unload lorries and containers safely and efficiently.
• Operate counterbalance forklift trucks to move and store pallets and materials.
• Check delivery and transfer paperwork accurately.
• Follow instructions regarding the correct storage and location of pallets and materials.
• Complete stock transfer sheets correctly and in a timely manner.
• Check stock regularly and report or correct any discrepancies in quantities.
• Ensure materials are appropriately segregated, clearly identified and easy to locate.
• Maintain the warehouse and yard to a high standard of cleanliness and housekeeping, including sweeping, hosing down and reorganising areas when required.
• Carry out safety and quality checks to the required standard and within the required timescales.
• Work safely at all times within a busy warehouse and yard environment.
• Communicate courteously and professionally with colleagues, external drivers and delivery personnel.
• Ensure the security of the compound and all goods entering or leaving the site.
• Immediately report any issues that may affect the Safety, Quality or Output of the warehouse to the Supervisor.
• Assist with monthly stock checks and ensure stock levels remain accurate.
• Carry out any other duties as required by the business.

The candidate:

• Must hold a valid Counterbalance Forklift Truck licence.
• Previous experience as a Warehouse Operative / Counterbalance Forklift Driver is preferred.
• Must be hard-working, diligent and reliable.
• Good attention to detail with the ability to accurately check paperwork and stock.
• Able to follow instructions and work safely at all times.
• Good communication skills and the ability to work well as part of a team.
• Experience of working within a clean or regulated working environment would be advantageous.
• Positive 'can do' attitude is essential.
• Able to work independently when required and take direction from Supervisors.

Hours of work & Pay:

Day shift only: 08:00am - 17:00pm Monday to Thursday

Friday: 08:00am - 16:30pm

Monday to Friday

42 hours per week

£14.13ph

2-week assignment starting 9th September 2026
