Job summary

Babcock is hiring a Warehouse Operative for on-site work at Bovington, Dorset. The role involves handling stock, maintaining records and supporting smooth dispatch and receiving operations, in a busy logistics environment.

You will work 37 hours per week on a 12-month fixed term contract, with standard shifts from 07:00 to 15:30 (Mon-Thu) and 07:00 to 12:00 on Fridays. Security clearance is required for eligibility.

Qualifications

  • Experience working within a warehouse, stores or logistics environment.
  • Basic IT skills, including Microsoft Excel.
  • Knowledge of warehousing and MRP systems.
  • Awareness of SAP or MJDI warehouse systems would be advantageous.
  • Understanding of stock control and inventory management.

Responsibilities

  • Receiving, checking, storing and dispatching stock and materials safely and accurately.
  • Maintaining stock records and supporting inventory accuracy through effective warehouse processes.
  • Operating material handling equipment and carrying out general warehouse housekeeping activities.
  • Liaising with suppliers and internal stakeholders to support operational requirements.
  • Following health, safety and quality standards while helping the team achieve daily performance targets.

The role

As a Warehouse Operative, you'll join a busy and supportive team responsible for ensuring materials, equipment and stock are received, stored and dispatched efficiently. This is an excellent opportunity to build your logistics and warehousing career within a business that supports critical defence operations.

You’ll play a key role in maintaining stock accuracy, supporting operational demand and ensuring warehouse activities are completed safely and efficiently. No two days are the same, and you’ll have the opportunity to contribute to continuous improvement while developing valuable skills within a dynamic environment.

Day-to-day, you will be:

  • Receiving, checking, storing and dispatching stock and materials safely and accurately.
  • Maintaining stock records and supporting inventory accuracy through effective warehouse processes.
  • Operating material handling equipment and carrying out general warehouse housekeeping activities.
  • Liaising with suppliers and internal stakeholders to support operational requirements.
  • Following health, safety and quality standards while helping the team achieve daily performance targets.

This role is full time, working 37 hours per week on a 12-month fixed term contract and is based on site at Bovington, Dorset. You'll work Monday to Thursday from 07:00 to 15:30 and Friday from 07:00 to 12:00,

Essential experience of the Warehouse Operative:
  • Experience working within a warehouse, stores or logistics environment.
  • Basic IT skills, including Microsoft Excel.
  • Knowledge of warehousing and MRP systems.
  • Awareness of SAP or MJDI warehouse systems would be advantageous.
  • Understanding of stock control, calibration processes or inventory management.
Qualifications for the Warehouse Operative:

Material Handling Equipment (MHE) licence preferred but not essential.

Security Clearance

The successful candidate must be able to achieve and maintain Security Check (SC) security clearance for this role.
