Job summary

Babcock is seeking a Warehouse Operative in Wareham, Dorset, to join a busy team responsible for receiving, storing and dispatching stock safely and accurately. The role offers 37 hours per week on a fixed-term 12-month contract at Bovington, near Dorchester, with on-site duties.

You will maintain stock records, operate material handling equipment, liaise with suppliers, and help the team meet daily targets while adhering to health and safety standards.

Qualifications

• Experience working in a warehouse/logistics environment.
• Basic IT skills, including Microsoft Excel.
• Knowledge of warehousing and MRP systems.
• Awareness of SAP or MJDI warehouse systems would be advantageous.
• Understanding of stock control, calibration processes or inventory management.

The role

As a Warehouse Operative, you'll join a busy and supportive team responsible for ensuring materials, equipment and stock are received, stored and dispatched efficiently. You’ll play a key role in maintaining stock accuracy, supporting operational demand and ensuring warehouse activities are completed safely and efficiently. No two days are the same, and you'll have the opportunity to contribute to continuous improvement while developing valuable skills within a dynamic environment.

Day-to-day, you will be:

• Receiving, checking, storing and dispatching stock and materials safely and accurately.
• Maintaining stock records and supporting inventory accuracy through effective warehouse processes.
• Operating material handling equipment and carrying out general warehouse housekeeping activities.
• Liaising with suppliers and internal stakeholders to support operational requirements.
• Following health, safety and quality standards while helping the team achieve daily performance targets.

This role is full time, working 37 hours per week on a 12-month fixed term contract and is based on site at Bovington, Dorset. You'll work Monday to Thursday from 07:00 to 15:30 and Friday from 07:00 to 12:00,

Essential experience of the Warehouse Operative:

• Experience working within a warehouse, stores or logistics environment.
• Basic IT skills, including Microsoft Excel.
• Knowledge of warehousing and MRP systems.
• Awareness of SAP or MJDI warehouse systems would be advantageous.
• Understanding of stock control, calibration processes or inventory management.

Qualifications for the Warehouse Operative:

Material Handling Equipment (MHE) licence preferred but not essential.

The successful candidate must be able to achieve and maintain Security Check (SC) security clearance for this role.
