Job description

Job Summary

Wood Innovations, a leading importer and distributer, is currently seeking an experienced warehouse operative to join our warehouse team in Walsall. As a part of our operations, you will be responsible for efficiently and safely handling stock by picking orders manually and using forklift equipment when needed. This physically demanding role requires working in a fast-paced environment, where you will be tasked with managing stock movement, loading, and unloading materials, and maintaining accurate records. The ideal candidate will have a forklift driver licence although not essential as training can be provided, possess strong attention to detail, and be able to work effectively in a team-oriented setting. Job Description

Essential Functions & Responsibilities:


  • Complete daily pre-use maintenance checks.

  • Safely stack and unstack goods onto racks, shelves, or pallets.

  • Picking, packaging and labelling orders before they are dispatched.

  • Transport product orders to the designated despatch zone.

  • Checking for damaged or missing items and keeping accurate records.

  • Ensure that all forklift driving areas are free from spills or obstructions.

  • Maintaining stock, storing goods and stock adjustments by hand or a forklift truck.

  • Checking and inspecting goods received, ensuring they are of accurate quantity, type and acceptable quality.

  • Moving, recording, and storing inbound goods.

  • Stock turnover management.

  • Perform general warehouse duties.

  • Maintain the warehouse in a tidy state, clearing away packing material and debris.

  • Adhering to health and safety rules and regulations.

  • Manoeuvre a Forklift Truck safely in a busy warehouse. Training can be provided.

Person Specification

Technical Competencies

Essential


  • Maths and English GCSE grade C and above.

  • Forklift Licence desirable but not essential as training can be provided.

  • Self-motivated and organised individual.

  • Ability to multi-task, prioritise, and manage time effectively.

  • Be friendly, helpful, with a positive attitude and be a flexible team player.

Desirable


  • Working for an importer/distribution company in a similar role.

  • Manual handling training

  • Previous experience of working with flooring products or construction products.

  • Experience working with a pallet wrapping machine.

  • Have full clean driving licence and access to own car.
