Job summary

Smiths News is seeking a Warehouse Operative to support distribution and returns of newspapers and magazines. You will sort, pack and return items with precision, ensuring every parcel is ready for dispatch.

You’ll work a night shift (22:00–05:30), performing labelling, sorting, and packing tasks. This fast-paced, hands-on role requires physical fitness, reliability, and a commitment to meeting targets.

Qualifications

• Previous experience in warehouse operations is preferred.
• Able to stand, bend, reach and lift for long shifts.
• Able to work night shift 22:00–05:30.

Responsibilities

• Sort, pack and return newspapers and magazines accurately.
• Label, sort and pack parcels for dispatch.
• Load and unload deliveries and assist with deliveries as required.
• Help ensure on-time delivery and retailer satisfaction.

About the role

As a Warehouse Operative, you’ll look after distribution and returns. You’ll sort, pack, and return newspapers and magazines with precision
and speed, making sure everything reaches its destination on time and in perfect condition. You’ll be hands‑on with labelling, sorting, and packing so each parcel is ready to go. Whether you’re unloading deliveries or tying bundles for the next part of the journey, your work will directly impact retailer satisfaction. You’ll be the kind of person who thrives in a fast‑paced, high‑energy environment as you load, unload and navigate deliveries. If you’re motivated to meet and exceed targets, confident driving a 3.5 tonne delivery van and able to lift and move heavy items, this is the role for you.
