Job summary

BAKO Group is a leading bakery products and ingredients distributor in the United Kingdom, with sites including Preston. We are seeking a Warehouse operative to support unloading/loading, stock accuracy and order preparation across ambient, chilled and freezer areas.

You will follow shift instructions, use MHE where trained, maintain safety standards and contribute to efficient warehouse operations. A flexible approach and good communication are essential for success in a busy environment.

Qualifications

• Warehouse experience required.
• Be able to work in freezer, chilled & ambient departments.
• Must be flexible.
• Good communication is essential.
• Counterbalance truck licence required.
• Shunting experience beneficial.
• H&S training preferred.
• MHE experience beneficial.
• Flexibility is important.

Responsibilities

• Unload/Load vehicles and accurately handle stock.
• Accurately picking and collating stock in Ambient, Freezer & Chiller departments.
• Check in goods inwards and ensure accuracy.
• Check vehicle temperatures before loading/unloading.
• Operate/loading activities with given instructions using MHE.
• Carry out hygiene/maintenance duties and other site tasks as required.
• Contribute to safe and efficient running of the warehouse.

Purpose of Job

Unloading/Loading Vehicles, booking in stock correctly from goods in & Collating/Picking Customer orders & all associated cleaning duties.

Main Duties

• To carry out given duties/instructions by shift supervisor
• Accurately picking and collating stock in all departments Ambient, Freezer & Chiller.
• Checking in goods inwards.
• Checking vehicle temperatures before loading/Unloading.
• Loading/Unloading of vehicles in line with given instructions.
• Use of mechanical handling equipment in daily duties in safe and competent manner.
• To carry out any hygiene/maintenance related duty, or any other task deemed appropriate by the manager/shift supervisor in any part of the site.
• These together with all other duties associated with the effective and efficient running of the Warehouse area and other related areas.

• Promptly report any hazards, unsafe practices, incidents, or near misses to your line manager or the Health & Safety team.
• Cooperate with management on all matters relating to health and safety, including attending mandatory training and following issued guidance or instructions.
• Use equipment and personal protective equipment (PPE) properly and as instructed to minimise risk.
• Participate in risk assessments and contribute to the identification and control of workplace hazards.
• Support a culture of continuous improvement in workplace safety by actively engaging in health and safety initiatives and suggestions.
