Job description

Job Title: Warehouse Operative

Location: Portsmouth Naval Base

Salary: Up to £29,000 Depending on Skills & Experience

What you'll be doing:

  • Supporting the business and complete the required tasks to ensure the efficient running of the store, that business objectives are achieved and a high level of service to our customers is maintained
  • Visibly demonstrate commitment to SHE performance and improvement by energetically engaging with people to raise awareness of safe behaviours and attitudes
  • Undertaking all aspects of storekeeping to include issue, receipt, stocktaking, reconciliation & consolidation. Undertake tasks in line with published procedures to ensure compliance and stock accuracy is maintained
  • Using initiative to resolve any customer requests and take appropriate action to satisfy the requirement. Ensure high priority work is actioned in a timely manner
  • Providing support to other staff, including on the job training and coach by example
  • Ability to identify opportunities for improvement in processes, working practices and team efficiency

Your skills and experiences

  • Knowledge of the Naval Base and its operations and priorities
  • Detailed knowledge of H&S procedures
  • Have experience in warehousing
  • Experience of mentoring tasks within teams
  • Full driving licence

Inventory Management Team:

Working within the Warship Support Maritime Services Supply Chain responsible for Inventory and Lineside planning and mentorship to ensure correct levels of stock available to support and enable the business. The role includes supporting the development of logistics / supply chain strategies & plans, the engagement and guidance of projects and other stakeholders to deliver project/business goals. The coaching, mentoring and development of team members to drive performance.
