Job summary

Manpower UK urgently seeks a warehouse operative for our Castle Donington site (East Midlands Gateway). The temp role runs until Jan 2027, with a pay rate of £13.45 hourly. Duties include scanning freight, checking paperwork, and using WMS for putaway, picking and packing.

Ideal candidates have 2+ years in warehouses, attention to detail, and experience with WMS systems; FLT licence is advantageous. Immediate start available.

Qualifications

Responsibilities

• Scan freight during loading/unloading to keep inventory records accurate.
• Verify paperwork matches consignments and report discrepancies promptly.
• Inspect incoming freight for damage and escalate issues to Team Leader.
• Store freight using WMS putaway logic to optimise space and accessibility.
• Conduct stock control tasks: consumables counts, pallet audits, cycle counts.
• Replenish ground floor stock locations and equipment as required.
• Identify hazardous consignments and follow safety regulations.
• Report unsafe conditions to Team Leader immediately.
• Maintain a clean, safe warehouse and yard, aligned to standards.
• Use WMS to pick, pack and ship products accurately.
• Assemble Groupage and Sandwich pallets per VAS instructions.
• Deliver excellent service to internal/external stakeholders and resolve issues proactively.
• Collaborate with team members to ensure smooth workflow.
• Record working hours using attendance register for payroll accuracy.
• Receive instructions from Team Leader via internal systems.

This temporary Warehouse Operative role with Manpower UK is based at Castle Donington (East Midlands Gateway), paying up to £13.45 per hour, initially until the end of January 2027. Working shifts will involve scanning freight during loading and unloading to keep tracking and inventory records accurate, checking paperwork against consignments and reporting discrepancies, and inspecting incoming goods for damage or poor packaging before escalating concerns to the Team Leader. Duties also cover storing freight in designated racking using WMS putaway logic, carrying out stock control tasks such as consumable counts, pallet audits and cycle counts, and replenishing ground floor locations. Candidates should have previous warehouse experience, attention to detail, and confidence using warehouse management systems. An immediate start is available.

• Identify and handle hazardous consignments in compliance with safety regulations and company procedures.
• Report any unsafe freight conditions or potential hazards to the Team Leader immediately.
• Maintain a clean, safe, and organised warehouse and yard environment in line with health and safety standards.
• Use Warehouse Management Systems (WMS) to pick, pack, and ship products accurately and efficiently.
• Assemble Groupage and Sandwich pallets according to customer-specific Value-Added Service (VAS) instructions to meet quality and presentation standards.
• Deliver excellent service to internal and external stakeholders by resolving issues proactively and maintaining a professional approach.
• Collaborate effectively with team members and supervisors to ensure smooth workflow and support a positive team culture.
• Accurately record working hours using the attendance register to ensure compliance with shift schedules and payroll accuracy.
• Receive and follow instructions from the Team Leader via internal systems, ensuring alignment with daily operational priorities.

What we are looking for:

• Recent warehouse operative experience (min of 2 years)
• A reliable, hardworking individual with good timekeeping skills
• Possession of an FLT licence (counterbalance andamp; REACH) would be advantageous
• Previous experience in using SwiftLOG (Warehouse Management System) is desirable
