Job summary

Smiths News in Hemel Hempstead is seeking a Warehouse Operative to look after distribution and returns. You will sort, pack, and return newspapers and magazines with speed and accuracy, ensuring parcels reach retailers on time and in good condition.

The role is physically demanding, involves lifting heavy items, loading/unloading, and occasionally driving a 3.5 tonne van. Applicants should be able to work 30 hours per week and have the right to work in the UK.

Responsibilities

• Sort, pack and return newspapers and magazines with speed and accuracy.
• Look after distribution and returns to ensure timely delivery.
• Label, sort and pack parcels so they are ready for onward delivery.
• Assist with unloading deliveries and tying bundles for the journey.
• Be confident loading, unloading and navigating deliveries, and meet targets.

About the role

As a Warehouse Operative, you'll look after distribution and returns. You'll sort, pack, and return newspapers and magazines with precision
and speed, making sure everything reaches its destination on time and in perfect condition. You'll be hands-on with labelling, sorting, and packing so each parcel is ready to go. Whether you're unloading deliveries or tying bundles for the next part of the journey, your work will directly impact retailer satisfaction. You'll be the kind of person who thrives in a fast-paced, high-energy environment as you load, unload and navigate deliveries. If you're motivated to meet and exceed targets, confident driving a 3.5 tonne delivery van and able to lift and move heavy items, this is the role for you.
