Job summary

Holdsworth Foods in Grimsby is seeking a Warehouse Operative for the Despatch team. You will pick orders from sheets, identify products, and ensure correct stock handling to support fast, accurate deliveries.

The role runs 5.00pm–1.00am, Monday to Friday. You will load/unload, use pallet trucks where certified, and help maintain a clean, safe warehouse environment. Benefits include weekly bonus, pension, death in service, healthcare plan, and staff discount.

Qualifications

• Experience in warehouse environments preferred.
• Ability to follow picking sheets and identify products.

Responsibilities

• Pick orders from picking sheets with attention to product and quantities.
• Be familiar with stocked products and warehouse set-up.
• Know correct storage areas for items and face labels outwards for checking.
• Load and unload cages safely; use ladders and harnesses when needed.
• Operate pallet trucks/fork trucks only if certified.
• Report equipment faults to management.
• Ensure cages are checked for products against picking sheets for accuracy.
• Load cages onto vehicles carefully to avoid damage and spills.
• Keep the warehouse clean and tidy at all times.
• Assist with other duties as required by management.

We are looking for a Warehouse Operative to work in our Despatch team at our Grimsby depot. Working as a Warehouse Operative, you will be joining a team who ensure that our customers receive the right products and support in the delivery of high levels of customer service.

The working hours are 5.00pm to 1.00am (30 minute unpaid break), Monday to Friday (37.5 hours per week).

Duties includes:

• To pick orders from picking sheets, with attention to product and quantities
• To be familiar with and able to identify the products stocked.
• To have a good working knowledge of the set-up of the warehouse and of the correct storage areas of all the various items stocked.
• To face labels outwards for double checking purposes
• To take care when loading and unloading cages
• To use the ladders and harnesses when working off ground level.
• To use pallet trucks/fork truck in a safe manner, and only if valid certification for the machine is held.
• To report any handling equipment faults immediately to the Department Manager or his/her Deputy.
• Nominated double checkers are to check cages for products and quantities against picking sheets
• Picking sheets must be signed for by the picker, double checker and stacker for traceability
• To load the cages onto the correct vehicle, taking extreme care not to damage any of the goods
• To load dry goods plus meat orders onto the correct vehicles taking care to load in such a way as to avoid any damage, spillage whilst in transport.
• To keep the warehouse clean and tidy at all times.
• To assist with other duties when requested to do so by senior management.
