Job summary

InPost UK is seeking a Warehouse Operations Supervisor for the Middleton team. You will oversee daily warehouse activities, optimise sortation processes, and lead a capable team to achieve efficiency and high standards.

Responsibilities

• Oversee daily warehouse operations and optimise the flow across all activities.
• Develop strategies to drive performance improvements and reduce costs; monitor KPIs.
• Lead, train and mentor a high‑performance warehouse team; provide coaching and guidance.
• Collaborate with other departments to ensure smooth operations and communications.
• Enforce SOPs to maintain consistency, efficiency, and quality; prioritise safety.
• Manage the OLA shift and driver pre-/de-briefings; ensure productivity.
• Maintain a clean, safe, compliant warehouse environment.

Location: Unit 69 Stakehill Industrial Estate, Touchet Hall Road, Manchester, M24 2SJ

Shift Pattern: Monday - Friday

Hours: 06:00 - 14:00 / 07:00 - 15:00

Salary: Up to £38,500 (DOE)

What You’ll Be Doing

• Leading Operational Excellence: Take charge of overseeing and optimising the daily operations of the warehouse, ensuring seamless execution across all activities and departments.
• Driving High Performance: Develop and implement strategies that drive performance improvements, reduce operational costs, and maximise efficiency. Monitor KPIs closely to identify opportunities for continuous improvement and success.
• Mastering Warehouse Flow: Partner with the Operations Manager to ensure accurate sorting, processing, and dispatching of parcels, driving a smooth operational flow from start to finish.
• Empowering Your Team: Lead, train, and inspire a high-performance warehouse team. Provide mentorship and guidance, fostering a positive and motivated work environment.
• Collaborating Across Teams: Work closely with other departments to ensure effective communication and collaboration, ensuring smooth operations throughout the business.
• Ensuring Consistency: Enforce adherence to Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) to ensure operational consistency, efficiency, and quality at all times.
• Prioritising Safety: Maintain a strong focus on health and safety, ensuring compliance with all regulations and creating a safe working environment for your team.
• Managing the OLA Shift: Take full control of managing all aspects of the OLA shift, ensuring optimal productivity and performance.
• Managing Driver Briefings: Oversee and control all aspects of driver pre- and de-briefings, ensuring clear communication and seamless operations.
• Maintaining a Top-Tier Warehouse Environment: Ensure the warehouse remains clean, organised, and fully compliant with safety standards to create an efficient and professional environment.
• Upholding Company Standards: Consistently adhere to and enforce company policies and procedures, ensuring the highest operational standards and integrity.
• Weekend Engagement: Actively participate in weekend conference calls to stay aligned with key operational developments and share insights on performance and strategic priorities.

• Proven Leadership: Significant experience in a supervisory role, ideally within a parcel sortation or logistics warehouse, with a solid understanding of automated sortation systems.
• Operational Expertise: Strong background in warehouse flow management and a proven ability to optimise processes and drive operational efficiency.
• Inspirational Leadership: Exceptional leadership and people management skills, with the ability to inspire and motivate a diverse team towards achieving ambitious goals.
• Strong Communicator: Excellent communication skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively across teams and departments to ensure smooth operations.
