Qualifications

Responsibilities

  • Lead the day-to-day operation of inbound and outbound warehouse functions to ensure service, safety and compliance standards are achieved.
  • Drive a high-performance culture focused on continuous improvement, productivity and customer satisfaction.
  • Manage labour and overhead costs in line with agreed budgets and operational targets.
  • Ensure compliance with GDP requirements, SOPs and regulatory obligations.
  • Oversee receipt, storage and handling of products, including temperature monitoring and stock rotation.
  • Monitor KPIs, audits and performance, taking action to improve as needed.
  • Provide leadership, coaching and motivation to direct reports and wider teams.
  • Recruit, develop and support managers and colleagues, collaborating with HR on capability and succession.
  • Build strong relationships across the site and with internal/external stakeholders.
  • Deputise for the Service Centre General Manager when required.

Job Details About the Role

We are looking for a Warehouse Operations Manager to join Alliance Healthcare in Newcastle. This is a key leadership role responsible for the safe, efficient and compliant running of inbound and outbound warehouse operations within the Service Centre. You will lead operational performance, drive continuous improvement, and ensure high standards of customer service, regulatory compliance, health and safety, and financial control. Working closely with the Service Centre General Manager, you will play an important role in shaping site culture, developing high-performing teams, and supporting the future growth of the operation.

Key Responsibilities
  • Lead the day-to-day operation of inbound and outbound warehouse functions to ensure service, safety and compliance standards are achieved.
  • Drive a high-performance culture focused on continuous improvement, productivity and customer satisfaction.
  • Manage labour and overhead costs in line with agreed budgets and operational targets.
  • Ensure compliance with all relevant Good Distribution Practice (GDP) requirements, standard operating procedures and regulatory obligations.
  • Oversee the correct receipt, storage and handling of products, including temperature monitoring, stock rotation, returns and recalled products.
  • Ensure warehouse areas are maintained to required operational, housekeeping and pest control standards.
  • Monitor key performance indicators, audits and operational performance, taking action where improvements are required.
  • Provide strong leadership, coaching and motivation to direct reports and wider teams through regular communication and clear objective setting.
  • Recruit, develop and support managers and colleagues, working in partnership with HR to build capability and succession plans.
  • Build strong working relationships across the site and with internal and external stakeholders.
  • Deputise for the Service Centre General Manager when required.
  • Participate in the on-call rota for emergency orders and weekend working rota as needed.
Skills and Experience Required
  • Proven experience leading and developing teams in a large, complex, fast-paced warehouse or logistics operation.
  • Strong track record of improving warehouse performance, stabilising operations and delivering operational projects.
  • Experience working in a highly regulated environment with a strong understanding of compliance and standard operating procedures.
  • Demonstrable ability to manage budgets, control costs and deliver against financial targets.
  • Strong leadership capability with the ability to engage, motivate and develop teams.
  • Experience building collaborative and effective relationships across departments and with key stakeholders.
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities and make sound operational decisions in a demanding environment.
  • Strong communication, planning and organisational skills.
  • Commitment to high standards of customer service, safety and operational excellence.
  • Experience in pharmaceutical, healthcare, logistics or distribution environments would be advantageous.
