Streamline Recruitment are partnering with a well-established logistics business that is expanding into warehousing and distribution with a new, purpose-built facility in the London Gateway area.

This is a senior appointment with full responsibility for setting up and running the warehouse operation. The role offers the chance to shape processes from the ground up, build the team, and develop contracts to drive growth.

Overview

The Warehouse Operations Director will lead the implementation, and day-to-day running of the new warehouse. The position covers operational strategy, people management, compliance, inventory control, and customer service ensuring the site delivers efficiently and to high standards from the outset.

Key Responsibilities

• Lead the full set-up of the new warehouse, including layout, systems, processes, and KPIs.
• Manage the budget, P&L, cost control, and overall financial performance of the site.
• Oversee daily operations to ensure efficiency, profitability, and compliance.
• Recruit, develop, and lead the warehouse operations team.
• Build strong customer relationships and play a key role in securing and onboarding new contracts.
• Implement effective inventory control, WMS, and reporting processes.
• Ensure compliance with health, safety, quality, and regulatory standards.
• Drive continuous improvement to enhance productivity, service levels, and cost efficiency.
• Work closely with senior leadership to align operational performance with commercial goals.

Candidate Profile

• Senior warehouse operations experience, ideally at Director or Head-of-Operations level.
• Proven track record in start-ups or major warehouse launches, including securing and managing contracts.
• Strong operational and commercial skills, with knowledge of WMS, inventory control, and compliance.
• Experienced leader who can recruit, develop, and motivate a high-performing team.
• Excellent communication and stakeholder-management skills.
• A background in logistics or transport is an advantage; a degree in Supply Chain or related field is desirable.
