JOB TITLE: Warehouse and Logistics Manager (Maternity Cover)

Reporting to: Supply Chain Manager

Working with: BLOC Stores and wider production team

BLOC are looking for a Warehouse and Logistics Manager for a maternity contract. What does this role contribute to the Company?

As Warehouse and Logistics Manager, you will be responsible for overseeing all aspects of warehouse operations and logistics to ensure efficiency, accuracy, and timely delivery of goods. Your role will involve strategic planning, coordination, and execution of activities related to inventory management, transportation, and distribution.

What we will ask of you:
  • Supervise the receiving, storing, and organizing of inventory in the warehouse.
  • Develop and implement efficient warehouse processes to optimize space utilization and streamline operations.
  • Ensure accurate stock levels through regular cycle counts and inventory audits.
  • Provide the finance team with accurate end-of-month stock valuation reports and payment receipts.
  • Implement and maintain safety protocols to ensure a safe working environment for warehouse staff.
  • Coordinate transportation and logistics activities to ensure timely delivery of goods to customers and/or other locations.
  • Collaborate with carriers, freight forwarders, and other logistic partners to negotiate rates and ensure cost-effective shipping solutions.
  • Monitor transportation schedules and track shipments to address any delays or issues promptly and ensure custom compliance paperwork completed.
  • Develop and implement inventory control procedures to minimize stock shortages, ensuring on time delivery to the factory.
  • Lead and manage a team of warehouse staff, including hiring, training, and performance evaluation.
  • Delegate tasks effectively and provide ongoing support and guidance to warehouse staff.
  • Create a culture of teamwork, accountability, and continuous improvement within the warehouse team.
  • Implement quality control measures and ensure the accuracy and integrity of all outgoing shipments.
  • Responsible for updating drawing register and PO systems ensure pricing and dates are correct.
  • Working collaboratively with the wider team understanding their needs and requirements ensuring POs are approved and accurate timelines provided to meet their expectations.
  • Liaising with internal departments providing updates on late orders which may affect production and updating managers with any concerns.
  • The above list is not exhaustive, and duties may vary in line with business needs.
  • You may be required to undertake other duties which are broadly in line with the key responsibilities or as reasonably required by your line Manager.
Essential Criteria
  • At least 3 years supply chain experience at a similar level gained within a manufacturing or similar environment.
  • Production planning & scheduling experience.
  • Strong IT skills; Competent in the use of all Microsoft packages.
  • Analytical thinker with problem solving ability and excellent attention to detail & an aptitude for figures, finance, budgets and numeracy.
  • Good time management and organisational skills with an ability to prioritise workload.
  • Strong commercial awareness and negotiation skills.
  • Ability to work well and calmly under pressure.
  • Strong interpersonal skills with an ability to build and maintain relationships with both internal and external stakeholders.
  • Ability to work well within a team as well as on own initiative.
  • Good written and verbal communication skills.
  • Proven ability to work to clear procedures and SOPs in accordance with regulatory requirements.
Desirable
  • Experience dealing with similar inventory.
  • Previous experience in the use of ERP systems.
  • Category C or C1 Driving License or above
  • Forklift License
