Job summary

Blue Arrow in Glasgow seeks a Warehouse Chargehand to lead a team in the Hillington area. You will supervise operations, ensure safe handling, and maintain processes and health and safety standards.

The role requires experience in warehousing, a strong eye for detail, and ability to drive improvements; a Reach/Counterbalance FLT licence is desirable. The position is permanent with standard hours and a competitive salary.

Qualifications

• Experience in general warehousing with supervisory responsibilities.
• IOSH operating/managing safety certificates desirable.
• FLT licence required or training will be provided for the right candidate.

Responsibilities

• Supervise and support a team of warehouse operatives, ensuring productivity and adherence to safety protocols.
• Ensure safe, efficient and accurate handling of incoming goods, storage, and dispatch services.
• Maintain health and safety standards and continuously improve procedures.
• Maintain written procedures for goods receipt, returns, stock control, and consolidation.
• Conduct routine safety inspections and ensure compliance with policies.
• Monitor staff performance, provide feedback, and identify training needs.
• Collaborate with other departments to maintain relationships.
• Assist in managing non-conforming materials and process improvements.
• Maintain high standards of housekeeping and warehouse organization.

Job description

Blue Arrow are currently recruiting for a Warehouse Chargehand for one of our clients based in Glasgow Hillington area. This is permanent position in great company for the right candidate.

Working days/Hours:

Monday to Thursday, 7.45am to 4.15pm, Friday 7.45am to 3.15pm (39h per week)

Salary:

£35000pa

Duties:

• Supervise and support a team of warehouse operatives, ensuring productivity and adherence to safety protocols.
• Ensure the safe, efficient and accurate handling of incoming goods, storage, and dispatch services
• Ensure all staff adhere to established processes and procedures and that health and safety standards are maintained and continuously improved
• Implement and maintain written procedures for goods receipt, returns, stock control, and consolidation.
• Conduct routine safety inspections on facilities and equipment, also ensure compliance with company health and safety policies.
• Monitor staff performance, provide feedback, and identify training needs.
• Collaborate with other departments to maintain effective working relationships.
• Assist in managing non-conforming materials and returns and make recommendations for process improvements.
• Maintain high standards of housekeeping and general warehouse organization.

Skills & Experience:

• Previous experience in a general warehousing role, with supervisory responsibilities.
• Strong understanding of health and safety practices (IOSH operating/managing safety certificates desirable).
• Excellent attention to detail and good hand/eye coordination.
• Experience with warehouse management systems is an advantage.
• Valid Reach and Counterbalance FLT Licence. Training will be considered for the right candidate.
