Job summary

MorePeople is recruiting a Warehouse Assistant Manager in Dartford to support the Warehouse Manager in day-to-day operations and lead a small team. You will ensure orders are picked, packed and dispatched accurately, covering ambient, chilled and frozen storage.

You'll maintain stock accuracy, lead by example, and step in when the Warehouse Manager is away, with real opportunities to build leadership skills in a growing food distribution business.

Qualifications

• Experience in a food manufacturing, distribution, or FMCG warehouse.
• Previous experience supervising or leading a warehouse team.
• Strong organisational skills with excellent attention to detail.
• A full UK Driving Licence.
• Flexibility to support early starts, late finishes, weekends, or delivery cover when required.

Responsibilities

• Coordinate day-to-day warehouse operations alongside the Warehouse Manager.
• Lead and motivate operatives to meet service and productivity standards.
• Oversee goods-in, stock movements, picking, packing and dispatch.
• Maintain stock accuracy and rotation (FIFO/FEFO) and keep the warehouse organised.
• Uphold housekeeping, food safety and Health & Safety compliance.
• Act as operational lead when the Warehouse Manager is absent.
• Support busy periods with hands-on picking, packing, loading and general activities.

What's the job?

Working alongside the Warehouse Manager, you'll help coordinate the day-to-day warehouse operation while ensuring customer orders are picked, packed, and dispatched accurately and on time.

• Supporting the running of daily warehouse operations across ambient, chilled, and frozen products
• Leading and motivating warehouse operatives to deliver high service and productivity standards
• Overseeing goods-in, stock movements, picking, packing, and dispatch activities
• Maintaining excellent stock accuracy, rotation (FIFO/FEFO), and warehouse organisation
• Ensuring high standards of housekeeping, food safety, and Health & Safety compliance
• Acting as the operational lead whenever the Warehouse Manager is absent
• Rolling up your sleeves during busy periods to support picking, packing, loading, and general warehouse activities.

What do I need?

We're looking for someone who enjoys leading from the front and isn't afraid to get involved in the day-to-day operation.

• Experience within a food manufacturing, food distribution, or FMCG warehouse
• Previous experience supervising or leading a warehouse team
• Strong organisational skills with excellent attention to detail
• Experience using warehouse management systems (SAP/WMS experience advantageous)
• A solid understanding of stock control, warehouse processes, and inventory accuracy
• A proactive, solutions-focused approach with the confidence to make decisions
• A full UK Driving Licence
• The flexibility to support early starts, late finishes, weekends, or delivery cover when required.
