Job summary

British Heart Foundation in Lewisham is seeking a part-time Warehouse Assistant to join our busy furniture stores. The role covers 16 hours a week, with weekend and bank holiday work on a rota basis, and a 6-month fixed-term contract.

You will help organise donated items, move deliveries, and keep the shop floor stocked. You will work as part of a team, supervise volunteers where needed, and stay flexible in a fast-paced environment.

Qualifications

• Experience in a fast-paced charity shop or retail environment.
• Ability to supervise volunteers and work with a team.
• Excellent organisational skills and reliability.

Responsibilities

• Organising donated items and preparing them for sale.
• Handling and moving furniture and appliances arriving in stores.

The opportunity

Look no further - join us as a Warehouse Assistant in Lewisham

The role is part time for 16 hours a week in one of our busy furniture stores. Our stores are fast-paced and trade 7 days a week. This role requires flexibility to work weekends and bank holidays on a rota basis.

This is a 6 month fixed term contract. Candidate must be fully flexible to work across 7 days per week including Weekends and Bank Holidays. This role requires regular Sunday working.

What does this role involve?

Your day-to-day responsibilities will include:

• Organising donated items and preparing them for sale / Handling and moving the delivery of furniture and appliances that arrive in our stores
• Ensuring the shop floor is always well stocked
• Identifying unsaleable donations for recycling
• Keeping the stockroom organised and tidy

• You’ll be confident working within a team and able to guide the activity of volunteers
• You’ll work well under pressure and on your own initiative in a dynamic and fast-paced environment
