At Chelsea and Westminster Hospital NHS Foundation Trust, we are guided by our PROUD values which shape how we care for our patients and support each other every day.

This role also directly supports the Trust’s three strategic priorities:

Delivering high-quality, patient-centred care: You’ll ensure every patient receives safe, respectful, and timely treatment in a calm and well-equipped environment.

Being the employer of choice: You’ll benefit from a supportive team culture, access to development opportunities, and a workplace that values your wellbeing and growth.

Better care at lower cost: By contributing to delivering safe, highly skilled, and patient-centred care that enhances efficient patient flow and highly productive theatres, you’ll help us make the best use of our resources while maintaining excellent standards of care.

If you’re ready to make a difference in a newly transformed surgical service, we’d love to welcome you to our team.

The post holder will be expected to lead a shift safely and effectively, deputise and take direct managerial responsibility for the clinical area in the absence of or as delegated by the senior sister/unit co-ordinator. The post holder will provide clinical supervision to other members of staff, students and may undertake research and clinical audits in the unit.

As a senior member of staff, you will be expected to support and supervise staff and students in the department and act as a role model for others. You will be expected to uphold high standards of care and maintain a safe and effective service in line with the NMC Code and the Trust values

To provide safe, high-quality care to patients in the perioperative environment: admitting patients pre-operatively, communicating closely with the theatre team, recovering patients (post-PACU), and safely discharging patients.

Chelsea and Westminster Hospital NHS Foundation Trust is one of England's top-performing and safest trusts. We operate two main acute hospital sites—Chelsea and Westminster Hospital and West Middlesex University Hospital—along with award-winning clinics across North West London.

Our nearly 7,500 staff care for a diverse population of 1.5 million, providing full clinical services, including maternity, A&E, and children’s services, plus specialist HIV and sexual health clinics. The Care Quality Commission rates us 'Good' in safety, effectiveness, care, and responsiveness, and 'Outstanding' in leadership and resource use.

We continually invest in our facilities, including a £30m expansion of critical care at Chelsea and Westminster and an £80m Ambulatory Diagnostic Centre at West Middlesex.

We are committed to equal opportunities and believe that diversity drives innovation and excellence. As part of our dedication to equity, we actively welcome applications from individuals from the global majority, veterans and underrepresented communities. We value the unique perspectives and experiences that diverse teams bring and are committed to creating an environment where all voices are heard, respected, and empowered to succeed."

If you haven’t heard from us within three weeks of the closing date, your application was likely unsuccessful. Employment is subject to a six-month probationary period.

Some roles may require weekend shifts at multiple sites.
