Job description

We are looking for a professional, confident Ward Manager (RMN / RNLD) who can lead, inspire & oversee the delivery of the very best care. You'll be working 40 hours a week (Monday to Friday 9am - 5pm) at Cygnet Hospital Ealing.

New Dawn Ward is our 9-bed specialist Tier 4 service, providing treatment, care, and support for women with a personality disorder who are ready to engage in therapy. Our service can support women with a diagnosis of personality disorder who need either: a short-term crisis intervention utilizing a Dialectical Behavioural Therapy (DBT) model (e.g., emergency referrals) or a longer-term therapeutic treatment program utilizing the principles of DBT with skills coaching and individual therapy.

Main duties of the job

Cygnet Hospital Ealing provides a welcoming, non-institutional environment, offering personalized treatment for service users with eating disorders or personality disorders across two separate wards. Services are delivered in a purpose-built therapeutic environment focused on maximizing positive outcomes and recovery. A range of therapies supports the care pathway towards independent living. The hospital is conveniently located near transport links and the local community.

Job responsibilities
  • Provide the highest standard of nursing care & be a role model to junior staff
  • Coordinate all clinical aspects of the ward & ensure cooperation between clinical departments
  • Implement clinical & administrative policies, procedures & regulations
  • Ensure compliance by others with policies, procedures & regulations
  • Support staff through debriefs, appraisals, training, meetings & development of evidence/research-based practice
  • Participate in the unit coordinator rota system to provide the first point of contact for ward-based staff
  • Lead by example to ensure consistently high standards of clinical care & documentation

You are
  • A qualified RMN / RNLD with a valid NMC pin number
  • Committed to delivering improvement strategies across all aspects of clinical service provision
  • Familiar with inpatient settings
  • Experienced in managing change, leadership initiatives, motivating & developing others
  • Experienced working with service users with eating disorders or in mental health settings
  • Open, compassionate, honest & resilient
  • Capable of undertaking audits, developing, following-up & ensuring completion of action plans
  • Well informed of the Mental Health Act 1983 & latest nursing practices
  • Focused on patient recovery to monitor, manage & reduce risk
