A healthcare provider in Stockport seeks a Ward Manager to lead the Bluebell Discharge to Assess Community Unit. This role involves ensuring high professional standards, managing a multi-disciplinary team, and promoting patient-focused care. The ideal candidate will have strong leadership skills and experience in clinical management. Successful applicants must undergo an enhanced DBS check.
In conjunction with the Matron, the Ward Manager will deliver effective leadership by setting, monitoring, and maintaining professional and care standards. They will work collaboratively, manage complaints as per Trust policy, and lead the nursing contribution to the ward-level governance agenda. The Ward Manager will be visible and accessible in the clinical area for patients, relatives, and staff. They will lead by example, act as a positive role model for all staff, and take responsibility for their own professional development.
The Ward Manager will lead the team and multidisciplinary team (MDT) through the StARS accreditation scheme, providing leadership that promotes patient-focused care. They will maintain an environment conducive to education, teaching, audit, and training for both patients and staff. They will provide clinical leadership and line management of staff, ensuring the delivery of high professional standards through staff development and performance reviews.
The Ward Manager will role model standards of care and expected behaviour through participation in direct patient care. They will maintain personal standards of conduct and behaviour consistent with Trust and NMC standards. Staff management responsibilities include recruitment, retention, training, managing sickness and absence, and performance/capability management.
The Ward Manager will enable appropriate and timely discharges for patients who do not meet the criteria to reside (NCtR). They will support multi-agency and multi-disciplinary working towards a single assessment and case management approach, including record sharing. They will ensure the efficient management of pay and non-pay budgets.

Successful applicants will require an enhanced DBS check at a cost of £54.90, deducted from the first Trust salary. Additionally, employment is conditional upon joining the DBS update service and paying the annual subscription fee of £16.
