Job SummaryWe are seeking a dynamic, skilled, and motivated individual with resilience and vision to manage and lead our male acute working age inpatient ward within Sheffield Mental Health Services.
Located at the Michael Carlisle Centre, Stanage Ward is a 16 bedded unit providing for the assessment and treatment of male service users experiencing a diverse range of mental health needs.
Stanage Ward is a warm, welcoming, and inclusive environment, where we have a vision of support for one another, creating a safe, therapeutic, and purposeful environment together for everyone. Within an established leadership team, the successful candidate will be responsible for both the clinical and operational leadership of the ward, through working closely with the Ward Consultant, Senior Practitioner and Matron.
As we move through these exciting times of change, the post holder will be pivotal in the future development of acute care and will help shape and lead the future pathway of our acute services.
As well as our commitment to clinical supervision and development the successful candidate will have the opportunity to access career coaching through SHSC to raise awareness of skills, abilities and how to utilize these effectively within practice.
Main duties of the job- Provide effective leadership and management/positive role modelling.
- Deliver high standards of patient centred care aligned to policy and procedures.
- Staff management, promoting a safe and therapeutic working environment.
- Deliver a safe and efficient service within allocated resources ensuring the resources are used to maximum effect.
- Support, nurture and invest in staff development.
- Act as a change agent, developing clinically effective practice through the effective utilization and integration of evidence.
- Maintain a safe and clean environment for staff, patients/clients and visitors by ensuring compliance with legislation, policies and protocols including health and safety, healthcare associated infection, risk management and critical incident reporting.

Person SpecificationTechnical SkillsEssential- Sound knowledge of complex clinical issues, including the management of risk, different treatment modalities, the MHA, the MCA.

- Evidence of continuous personal and professional development and willingness to undertake a qualification in leadership or management, to degree level or above.
Desirable- Qualification in a leadership or management module or course at degree level or above.
ExperienceEssential- Experience of basing service development on the views and opinions of service users. Evidence of successful implementation of a quality improvement initiative or change idea, displaying some knowledge of change methodology. Evidence of experience and an appreciation of the complexities of people management.
Desirable- Project management skills. Experience of managing budgets in line with Financial Standards Instructions (FSI).
