Overview:

Lombard House is a specialist learning disability rehabilitation unit which provides nine beds for males with a history of offending/challenging behaviour, who have learning disabilities and other conditions including autistic spectrum conditions (ASCs), personality disorders and mental illnesses.

Key Responsibilities:

As the Ward Manager, you will play a crucial role in providing high-quality care across various wards, including rehabilitation and low secure wards, for patients with Learning Disabilities and Mental Disorders.

Your responsibilities will include:

  1. Leadership and Team Management: Provide clear leadership to the Nursing team, efficiently managing shifts for optimal patient care.
  2. Patient-Centered Care: Establish and maintain therapeutic relationships to enhance patient engagement, ensuring individual needs are met.
  3. Compliance and Ethical Practice: Adhere to all codes of conduct, standards, and legislation. Respect the rights of others and promote ethical practice at all times.
  4. Care Planning and Assessment: Contribute to patient assessments, collaborate with individuals to formulate care plans, and monitor patient progress.
  5. Education and Mentorship: Mentor and support student nurses and other team members, contributing to their professional development.
  6. Professional Development: Promote continuous professional development within the team, ensuring they are equipped with the latest knowledge and skills.
To succeed in this role, you will need:
  1. RMN or RNLD Qualification: Hold a valid RMN or RNLD qualification.
  2. Post-Registration Experience: Have a minimum of 3 years' post-registration experience.
  3. Supervisory Experience: Demonstrated experience in a supervisory role within a healthcare setting.
  4. Mentoring Certificate: Possess a recognised mentoring certificate (preferable).
  5. Teaching and Assessment Skills: Ability to assess and teach junior staff effectively.
  6. Organizational Skills: Proven ability to coordinate care, prioritise tasks, and manage Health & Safety issues.
  7. Drive for Learning: Exhibit a strong drive to learn, develop, and stay updated with the latest practices in the field.
  8. Patient-Centered Approach: Show a deep commitment to patient-centered care and uphold values-based and evidence-based practice.
  9. Team-Oriented Attitude: Possess a flexible, positive, and team-oriented approach to work.
