We're Hiring: Ward Manager

Join our dedicated healthcare team as a Ward Manager in a full-time, permanent role (37.5 hours, Monday to Friday). We're looking for an experienced and motivated leader who is registered with the NMC and passionate about delivering high-quality care. Job Purpose

To provide Clinical Management and Leadership of the full nursing team on the Ward, this includes being a highly visible role model and mentor to the nursing team. The post-holder has responsibility for overseeing and maintaining the highest standards of nursing care. The role will act as a senior clinical member of the team, providing advice and support from a nursing perspective and oversee and hold responsibility for the ward environment and its resources.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead and manage the ward team, ensuring safe staffing levels, effective rota planning, and performance management.
  • Oversee supervision, appraisal, mandatory training, and CPD for nursing staff, addressing any gaps in development.
  • Act as a visible role model and leader, fostering a culture of learning, professionalism, and high-quality care.
  • Ensure high standards of clinical care, including personalised, evidence-based care planning and physical health needs.
  • Maintain clear ward procedures to support safe, effective daily operations including cleanliness and nutrition.
  • Ensure accurate clinical communication, documentation, and effective handovers across the team.
  • Support recruitment and retention, and contribute to staff induction, audits, and training initiatives.
  • Uphold compliance with all relevant policies, legislation (MHA, MCA, DoLS), and medicine management standards.
  • Lead and investigate incidents, complaints, and HR matters thoroughly, ensuring learning and debriefs occur.
  • Liaise with the wider MDT, external professionals, and deputise for senior leaders when required, including on-call duties.
