An opportunity has arisen to join the team on our Children's Haematology & Oncology Ward at Leicester Royal Infirmary (Ward 27, LRI). We are seeking an experienced, highly motivated, and dedicated individual to work with our team to deliver high-quality patient care. The Ward Leader will provide leadership and support to our nursing staff while ensuring effective ward management. The successful applicant will have opportunities to develop skills in leadership, management, and quality improvement.
Ward 27 is a fast-paced ward specializing in care for patients aged 0-24 requiring haematology & oncology treatment. We also provide day care services from a dedicated unit. Our team works closely with adult services and provides care for Teenage Young Adult patients undergoing stem cell transplantation. We collaborate with children's services at Nottingham, offering diverse professional development opportunities.

The post holder(s) will be responsible for Ward 27 and the Day Care Ward, being visible, accessible, and responsive to staff, patients, carers, and the public. They must be an expert clinical practitioner, working clinical shifts and providing managerial support. The role involves supervising a team of over 40 nursing staff, ensuring high standards of care, and fostering a supportive learning environment.
Wider responsibilities include risk reduction and audit, resource management, activity coordination, and ensuring quality care across the hospital. Candidates should be positive, adaptable, and able to model best practice, with a calm, diplomatic, and caring demeanor. The role offers further development opportunities within our team.
