Job description
Overview

The key purpose of the role is to undertake the ordering of materials and stock and the work streams associated around this as well as assist and manage all aspects of the distribution service in relation to all clinically related consumables, including all aspects of PPE under the direction of the Supply chain & logistics Manager. The post‑holder will be expected to actively manage clinical and other stock associated with the functioning and effectiveness of a specialist NHS Hospital.

Key Responsibilities
  • Manage and monitor all PPE and clinical goods receipting, ordering and inventory management tasks.
  • Visit service user departments, conduct meetings with end users concerning stock issues and support decision‑making.
  • Use Automatic Data Capture, hand‑held devices and other Materials Management systems for inventory stock ordering.
  • Liaise daily with the Trust Team/committees, external partners from NCL and NHS supply chain.
  • Act as a key member of the Materials Management team, placing weekly orders, conducting bi‑annual stock takes and utilising an inventory management system digital solution.
  • Handle requisition point management, constant communication with end users and work within the Trust standing financial instructions.
  • Demonstrate a good understanding of IT systems and maintain a professional, safe environment for staff, patients and visitors.
Required Skills & Experience
  • Excellent communication skills with the ability to inspire high levels of teamwork.
  • Experience in an NHS environment, procurement methodology and practice, or use of a digital inventory management system.
  • Background in procurement or materials management, with strong knowledge of relevant NHS supply chain standards.
  • Ability to work independently while promoting Materials Management across the Trust.
  • Proficiency with inventory systems, hand‑held devices and Automatic Data Capture technology.
