Job summary

Ashwell Ward – Frailty at East and North Hertfordshire Teaching NHS Trust is recruiting a House Keeper to join the ward team. You will coordinate patient facilities and services, ensuring a clean, safe, and comfortable environment, while supporting contractors and ward services to meet patient needs.

The role emphasizes infection control, health and safety, and high standards of customer service in a hospital setting. Training in food hygiene and cleaning procedures is preferred.

Qualifications

• Evidence of basic good education.
• Computer literacy; polite telephone and verbal communications.
• Ability to work closely with all grades of staff.
• Dealing with enquiries/complaints.
• Adaptability and ability to prioritise under pressure.
• NHS hospital or hotel industry experience preferred.
• Training in food hygiene.
• Training in cleaning standards and small maintenance tasks.
• Knowledge of health and safety issues.
• Clerical procedures and ordering supplies.
• Dealing with public; patient nutritional needs.
• Waste management.
• Infection control issues.

Responsibilities

• Ensure delivery of catering service and other ward tasks meet patient needs.
• Keep track of stock control and ward-based tasks as directed by the ward manager.
• Work closely with contractors and support services to maintain standards.
• Contribute to monitoring quality standards and address deficiencies promptly.
