Job summary

The Newcastle upon Tyne Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust is seeking a Ward Housekeeper for Ward 6/32 to maintain a clean, safe ward environment and support patient nutrition and comfort. The role involves stock management, equipment decontamination, and teamwork with nursing staff.

Ideal candidates will have basic infection prevention knowledge, good literacy and numeracy, and be able to use electronic records.

Qualifications

• Basic infection prevention and control knowledge.
• Understanding of confidentiality.
• Understanding of basic safeguarding.

Responsibilities

• Be an effective member of the multi-disciplinary team assisting the Ward / Department to maintain a safe, clean and comfortable environment for the patients, their families and visitors.
• Report any concerns regarding the patients condition to the qualified nurse.
• Maintain patients privacy and dignity at all times.
• Report to the Nurse in Charge any issues that may prevent cleaning or compromise the safety of the environment.
• Actively contribute to the provision of nutrition of the patients on the Ward / Department.
• May undertake administrative and clinical duties as required.
• To abide by Trust policies and procedures.

An exciting opportunity has arisen to join Ward 6 as a Ward Housekeeper. Ward 32 is a 24 bedded renal ward, we are a very friendly approachable team who aim to provide the highest quality care for our patients. The housekeeper role is pivotal in ensuring high quality patient experience whilst keeping the ward clean and safe for patients, their families and visitors.

Main duties of the job

• Maintain cleanliness throughout the ward on a daily basis - ensuring all bed space areas are free from clutter.
• Stocking up and ordering of supplies used within the ward using a computer ordering system.
• Decontaminating of all equipment used within the ward.
• Nutritional support to assist the nursing staff - daily ordering of kitchen stock.

KNOWLEDGE
