Areyou ready for a new challenge? We have an exciting full time Ward Clerkvacancy within Trauma & Related Services at Leeds General Infirmary.

WardL35 is a busy ward environment caring for individuals who have hadpredominantly Orthopaedic surgery. We collaborate with a widemultidisciplinary team consisting of Consultants, Nurses, Physiotherapists,Occupational Therapists, the hospital discharge team and various other alliedhealth professionals. You will need to work closely with other colleagues toensure the smooth running of the unit and providing a safe service for allour patients.

Main duties of the job

Dailyduties will include but not be limited to:

Trauma and Elective Patient paperwork preparations for urgent cases.

Admit and discharge patients for surgeries using Patient Centre and Galaxysystems

Booking follow up appointments.

Answering daily telephone queries

Excellentcommunication skills are essential, you must be comfortable with and happydealing with patients face to face (please note during COVID all PPE andsafety measures are in place) on a daily basis so a patient focused attitudeis vital as well as being enthusiastic, positive, adaptable and motivated whocan work in a fast pace environment.

Job responsibilities

JOBPURPOSE

L35is an Orthopaedic & Trauma clinic environment reviewing and treatingtrauma and elective patients daily. The post holder will collaborate with awide multidisciplinary team consisting of Consultants, Nurses,Physiotherapists, Occupational Therapists, Outpatient Department and linkingin with the Plastic Surgery Administration Team. You will need to workclosely with other colleagues to ensure the smooth running of the unit andproviding a safe service for all our patients.

JOBDIMENSIONS

Thepost holder will need Excellent communication skills, you must be comfortablewith and happy dealing with patients face to face on a daily basis so apatient focused attitude is vital as well as being enthusiastic, positive,adaptable and motivated who can work in a fast pace environment.

Thisrole acts as the linchpin for the Hand Unit, you are integral to the smoothrunning of the unit so you must be a team player who is calm under pressure.

PRINCIPALDUTIES AND AREAS OF RESPONSIBILITY

Administrativeand Clerical Duties:

-Record admission, transfer and discharge activity data onto the Trust PASsystem.

-Arrange patients follow-up appointments using the PAS system and ordertransport for patients when required.

-Record changes to the bed base and inform the relevant corporate team

-Handle telephone calls from relatives, hospital staff, public etc, underguidance where necessary from the Sister/Charge Nurse, and making calls whereappropriate on behalf of ward staff.

-Ensure that patients medical records (including x-rays) are available on theward, obtaining these where necessary from other departments.

-Transfer pathology and other reports to patients records, and generalcollation of records promptly and efficiently, especially on patientsdischarge.

-Deliver patients mail.

-Order stationary and complete requisition forms under instruction fromSister/Charge Nurse.

-Complete electronic admission/bed system as required

-Maintaining records on behalf of Sister/ Charge Nurse.

Assistingto maintain high standards of care

-Assist in the welcome and reception of patients and visitors into theclinical area

-Maintain a safe working environment, reporting incidents, accidents,complaints

-Understand the need to maintain and respect patient confidentiality

-Participate in in-service training

-Participate in mandatory training annually

-Participate in annual performance appraisal

-Undertake duties on different wards/depts as and when required by servicedemands

Developgood working relationship

-Participate in appropriate and relevant communications networks

-Ensure the maintenance of good relationships, communications and teamworkwith all disciplines within the ward / department
