Job Overview

This job opportunity at Farnham Hospital Bentley ward is for a Ward Clerk/Receptionist to support the administrative needs of a busy department. The role is part-time (30 hours per week) on a 12 month fixed term contract and requires someone who is dynamic and professional to assist with reception duties and clerical tasks.

Main duties of the job

  • General clerical and administrative duties
  • Managing and dealing with all telephone enquiries, new patients and visitors
  • Point of contact for all visitors to the unit
  • To maintain patient details on relevant electronic systems updating with necessary requirements such as porting requests
  • To manage and update the admission and discharge information system contemporaneously
  • Liaise with ward staff to resolve any problems
  • Liaise with other departments for example; Waiting list department, consultants secretaries, pharmacy, emergency department, transport, discharge lounge, site managers, porters etc
  • To provide administrative support to the nursing and medical staff as required
  • Make appointments as necessary
  • Ensure general tidiness of Ward Reception areas
  • To maintain a safe working environment
  • Assisting with audits as required, including data collection
  • Reporting of any estates issues and following up these requests
  • Assist with the completion of patient menus and distributing food on the ward
  • Order needing stock
  • Ensuring devices are serviced
