Job description

Band 2 Ward Clerk (Adult Day Surgery Unit / Chesterman Unit)

Shift pattern: 10am-6pm Monday to Friday. This is subject to change in case of staff absences to 7am-3pm.

We are seeking a ward clerk for our Adult Day Surgery Unit and Chesterman Unit. The role involves covering both areas when required.

Adult Day Surgery is a 34-bedded unit caring for patients pre- and post-operatively.

Chesterman Unit is a newly opened 13-pod unit for patients requiring inpatient surgery prior to their operation.

Essential experience includes administration and customer-facing roles.

Responsibilities include providing administrative support to the nursing and medical teams, liaising with theatres and MDT members, welcoming patients, and using the electronic patient record (EPR) system.

Reading is situated on the River Thames with excellent road and rail links to London, Oxford, and Southampton. It offers great leisure, shopping, and cultural facilities, making it a wonderful place to live and work, with excellent schools for families.
