Job Summary

We have an exciting opportunity to become a band 2 Ward Clerk part time hours on a busy gastroenterology ward.

Main duties of the job

This post holder will provide clerical support to nursing staff relieving them of certain non-nursing duties. The post holder must at all times provide a positive image of the hospital and ensure confidentiality.

About Us

We provide hospital services from two acute sites - Darlington Memorial Hospital and University Hospital of North Durham. We have a centre for planned care in Bishop Auckland and provide care from community hospitals in Chester-le-Street, Shotley Bridge, Barnard Castle, Sedgefield and Weardale as well as over 80 other community based settings and providing care in patients' homes.

We particularly welcome applications from disabled and Black, Asian and Minority Ethnic (BAME) candidates as BAME and disabled people are currently under-represented.

Job Description

Job responsibilities

  1. The post holder will deal with enquiries, taking and conveying messages.
  2. Will sort incoming and outgoing mail.
  3. Will maintain ward information boards.
  4. Will requisition repairs as required.
  5. Use cardea as required.
  6. Photocopying as required.

Person Specification

Qualifications

Essential
  1. Good standard of general education with grade C or above in English.

Desirable
  1. Understanding of medical terminology.

Experience

Essential
  1. Clerical/administrative experience.

Desirable
  1. Experience of working in the NHS.
