Job summary

York Teaching Hospital Facilities Management is seeking a Cleaning Operative for Askham Bar Community Care Centre. The role offers permanent contract and training on cleaning procedures, infection control and equipment use.

You'll work Monday to Friday, with early or late shifts, applying safe cleaning practices under supervision as needed. The post emphasizes teamwork, reliability, and the ability to read and communicate in English.

Qualifications

• Experience is not necessary as full training will be given.
• Able to read, write and converse in English.
• Willing to undertake appropriate qualifications and training in cleaning procedures and infection control.

Responsibilities

• Maintain cleanliness throughout designated areas according to work schedules.
• Clean wards/areas, using appropriate equipment and ensuring safe handling of materials.
• Undertake specialist cleaning as directed by supervisor or infection control team.
• Use colour coded equipment to prevent cross contamination.
• Work without immediate supervision and manage priorities under time pressure.
