Job summary

Sodexo at Chesterfield Royal Hospital is seeking a Catering Assistant to deliver ward meal service to patients, support daily catering operations, and uphold high hygiene standards. You will assist with trolleys, equipment and routine cleaning while maintaining accurate service records.

Experience in catering or customer-facing roles is desirable. The role offers full training and a supportive, team-based environment with flexible working options.

Qualifications

Basic Food Hygiene Certificate required.
Previous experience in catering or food service preferred.
Customer-facing experience desirable.

Responsibilities

Deliver ward food service to patients accurately.
Set up catering trolleys and equipment.
Collect and return meal trolleys per schedule.
Clean and sanitise kitchen areas and equipment.
Complete service documentation (temperature checks, logs).
Operate dishwashing equipment and assist cleaning.
Follow food safety, health and safety and infection prevention procedures.
Report equipment faults and participate in training.
Communicate effectively with patients, visitors and staff.
Work as part of a flexible, team-based role.
