An exciting opportunity has arisen to work on the Acute Stroke Unit as a ward clerk. The unit is a 24 bedded unit that admits acute stroke patients directly to the ward.
The post holder will work jointly with another ward clerk and will provide clerical and administrative support to nursing and medical staff in the ward area. They will ensure the efficient management of patients' medical records and deal with telephone calls, addressing any queries where possible.
The job is for 30 hours working both early and late shifts and may cover some weekends.
The Medicine for Older People directorate’s primary focus is to provide care for our older population who may have multiple comorbidities and require complex care. We provide a comprehensive service including Stroke, Frailty, Dementia, and specialist care of older persons.
We have 8 wards in total which includes 7 acute wards on the Royal Blackburn Hospital site and one specialist stroke rehabilitation ward at Pendle Community Hospital. In January 2019 the Trust opened an Older Persons Rapid Assessment (OPRA) Unit, providing multidisciplinary comprehensive geriatric assessment as part of a developing acute frailty pathway.
