Job summary

Voluntary Service Aberdeen at Linn Moor Campus in Peterculter seeks Relief Support Workers for waking nights to support students and young adults with autism and learning disabilities.

You will contribute to quality night-time care in a residential setting, require night-shift experience and strong communication to engage with individuals with complex needs. PVG scheme joining costs are covered by the employer.

Qualifications

• Ideally you should have some experience of working with children and/or young adults with autism / learning difficulties and have the ability to engage/relate to them through effective communication skills and the ability to deal with complex and challenging behaviour.
• Prior experience would be preferred, in particular, having worked night shift or waking nights and lone working.

Responsibilities

• Support students and young adults with additional support needs during night hours in a residential setting.
• Maintain records and reports according to statutory and organisational procedures.
• Promote health, safety and security and administer medications as required, following safeguarding policies.
• Support wellbeing, rights and preferences, and respond to disclosures and safeguarding concerns.
• Assist with night-time learning activities and evaluation of programmes, balancing group and individual needs.
• Prepare and maintain night-time environments and coordinate with staff shifts.
