Job summary

RESICARE ALLIANCE is seeking a Waking Night Residential Support Worker to provide overnight care and safeguarding for children and young people in our residential home. You will be the constant, reassuring presence through the night and support bedtime and morning routines where required.

The role involves welfare checks, safeguarding duties, lone-working decisions, and detailed night reporting. We invest in staff development, with mandatory training and potential progression toward Level 3

• Strong communication and collaboration with families, social workers and education staff.

Responsibilities

• Provide overnight care and safeguarding for children and young people.

• Record detailed night reports and handovers to day staff.
• Respond to safeguarding concerns, incidents, and medical or emotional crises.
• Engage in supervision, training, and team meetings as required.

Are you calm under pressure, dependable, and passionate about keeping children safe? We're looking for a Waking Night Residential Support Worker to join our team, providing overnight care and safeguarding for the children and young people living in our residential home.

This is a vital role you'll be the constant, reassuring presence through the night, making sure every child feels safe, secure, and supported until morning.

What You'll Be Doing

Night Care & Supervision

• Remaining awake and alert throughout your shift
• Carrying out regular welfare checks in line with care plans and risk assessments
• Supporting children who wake during the night, offering reassurance and assistance
• Maintaining a calm, safe, and settled night-time environment
• Supporting bedtime and morning routines where required

Safeguarding & Safety

• Monitoring children identified as vulnerable overnight
• Responding immediately to safeguarding concerns or incidents
• Managing missing-from-home incidents in line with procedures
• Maintaining building security and monitoring access to the home
• Carrying out fire safety checks and emergency procedures
• Responding appropriately to medical or emotional crises

Professional Practice

• Following care plans, behaviour strategies, and risk assessments
• Maintaining professional boundaries at all times
• Demonstrating calm, confident decision-making when lone working
• Upholding safeguarding standards throughout every shift

Recording & Accountability

• Completing detailed night reports and incident recordings
• Maintaining accurate monitoring logs
• Providing clear handovers, written and verbal, to day staff
• Escalating concerns promptly to on-call management

Team & Partnership Working

• Working collaboratively with colleagues to ensure consistent care practices
• Communicating effectively and sharing relevant information
• Taking direction from team leaders and managers while using initiative appropriately
• Participating in supervision, training, and team meetingsEngaging respectfully with families, social workers, education staff, and other professionalsSupporting children to maintain important relationships where appropriate

Your Development
