Job summary

Discovery is recruiting a Waking Night Floating Support Worker to cover South Somerset. You will work across services, providing night-time support, safety and independence for people with learning disabilities.

The role is field-based, requiring lone-working and travel between homes with a focus on person-centred care. This full-time position offers mileage pay, paid leave, a salary-advance option, and a strong induction programme including Care Certificate and Health & Social Care Diploma.

Qualifications

• Hold a full UK driving licence.
• Have access to your own vehicle for travel across South Somerset.
• Able to travel across South Somerset to support different services.
• Previous experience in social care or support work is preferred.
• Experience with complex needs is desirable.
• Experience working as a lone worker.

Responsibilities

• Provide emotional support and reassurance throughout the night.
• Complete welfare and wellbeing checks.
• Support personal care and maintain dignity.
• Assist with mobility and moving and handling tasks.
• Support with medication administration.
• Promote choice, independence and wellbeing.
• Maintain accurate records and incident documentation.
• Prepare the home for the day ahead and ensure a safe environment.
