Job description

Become a role model and make a difference in the lives of children in Hampshire!

Do you enjoy working with children and want to help improve their lives?

This is an exciting opportunity to join a new Children's Home in Romsey, Hampshire, applying for Ofsted registration. Opening early 2025, the home will feature three self-contained living areas and a communal space. Hockley House will be innovative in purpose and approach, meeting complex needs of children and young people with emotional, behavioural, and mental health challenges that do not meet hospital or secure accommodation criteria but require high-level support.

Children will benefit from a multi-agency intervention package involving Children's Services residential and education staff, along with co-located Health Services, all working within a trauma-informed therapeutic framework. The goal is to enable young people to maintain family contacts, reunite with their families, or transition to independence.

We seek caring, creative, and passionate individuals capable of developing positive outcomes through a child-centered approach, building warm, positive, and strong relationships with children. The role involves supporting children's goals and development as a positive role model.

Once the home opens, the role will include waking night shifts, weekends, and bank holidays. Prior to opening, you will work a combination of shifts and core hours for induction and preparation.

Please note: We cannot offer sponsorship; applicants must already have the right to work in the UK.

What We Can Offer You:

  • On-the-job training and career progression opportunities
  • 24-27 days of paid holiday (pro-rata), depending on service length
  • Access to free, confidential Employee Support (including 24/7 counselling)
  • Participation in the Local Government Pension Scheme with employer contributions
  • A one-off £250 or £500 payment after three months if you already hold a relevant Level 3 Diploma
  • A one-off £500 payment upon completing your Level 3 Diploma if not already held
  • A one-off £3,000 payment after three years of continuous service (subject to return of service)
